Trusts & Estates Lawyer (Advisory & Negotiation) | 5+ Years' Experience
The Opportunity
We have partnered with a well-established Auckland law firm to find a talented Senior Solicitor to join their specialist Private Client team, known for the breadth of its work, its collaborative culture, and its commitment to staff development. Your background may be as a trusts lawyer or estates lawyer, or from relationship property - what matters is strong technical grounding and a genuine interest in this area of law.
This role offers genuine autonomy and direct partner access. Most of your work will involve negotiation and mediation rather than the courtroom, drawing on your relationship management and problem-solving expertise. You will handle complex trust and estate disputes, contested estates, wills, and relationship property matters, bringing a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to sensitive, high-stakes work.
What we are looking for
- A minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience, ideally in trust and estate disputes, relationship property.
- A current New Zealand practising certificate
- Strong negotiation and mediation skills, alongside solid advocacy and drafting ability
- The ability to manage a varied caseload with growing independence
- A pragmatic, client-focused approach to resolving complex and sensitive disputes
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with a specialist advisory team
